3 idiots controversy and Chetan Bhagat - was this really necessary?

Just recently 3 idiots bollywood film has run into controversy. Usually it was like, people find out a way for controversy to make the flick a hit, but in this case, the film is already a hit and now a controversy has come up regarding the name placement of Chetan Bhagat in the films name scrolls.


What actually has happened - 
While Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the producer of the film lashed out at a reporter quite aggressively for raising this issue in a press meet, Chetan Bhagat is busy giving TV interviews, telling his sorrow story.

Acccording to VV Chopra, Bhagat has been paid all the amount including the bonus for taking the copyrights of the  movie, and also, in the agreement, it was written that Bhagat's name will come in scroll of the list of contributors to the film. Bhagat says that since 80 % of the story is his, his name should have been as a slide show, rather than a scroll.


My take  -
If Bhagat is defaulter here. He has got the moeny plus the bonus for his work from the producer. and also, his name has been mentioned in the film. If at all, he did not like that, he would have directly contacted Mr. Chopra and expressed his concern. In stead of that, he has taken the media route to express his grief.

Almost everybody knows that the film is influenced by Chetan Bhagat's work, so, there was no need to cry.
If at all he wished to share the fame for the film, he would have written the same in his blog, would have printed this matter in the back cover page of his next book, would have taken a photo of the agreement and printed the same in his book, would have run an ad campaign ahead of his next book release, using this fact that his story has made it big in bollywood... he would have marketed himself in many more methods.


Who has got benefits out of it?
Both Bhagat and Chopra have benefits out of this controversy. Now more and moer people will go and read the book and see the movie just out of curiosity. This is because.. a lot of debate in on air, about how the book is close the the story of the film.
